Blima Efraim As an artist living in an era of utmost importance concerning environmental issues, I recognize the powerful impact my actions have on the delicate balance between humans and our environment and I am totally aware that our flora and fauna are in dire need of conservation and preservation.
I recently started working on Yupo paper, coming from more than 30 years working with acrylics on canvas. This new material to me, is a tree-free, synthetic recyclable paper/plastic and its properties allow for my art to be preserved indefinitely, therefore reducing waste and further environmental impact
When I sit in front of a white surface, I let the colors dictate the direction of my creation. I don't use any reference; I never do sketches, or follow a particular context. I prefer to let my subconscious be my guide allowing me to explore parallel worlds that inhabit my being. I rarely follow the rules, style or theme. I refuse to do that, and I choose to portray a particular style at that particular moment in time. I carry my own and also someone else's story, and I feel I have the obligation to show it to the ones who came across with it. Perhaps It may be their own story!
