Description
The city of Rio de Janeiro is portrayed on a beautiful womans body. Discover her secrets and travel within her curves.
- Read a paragraph (piece of white floating paper) of the Brazilian National Anthem quoted, She lies down eternally in a splendid land, to the sound of the ocean and under the light of the deep sky. Within the same paper, observe a quill over it which is symbolizing the freedom of slavery, signed by princess Isabel on 1888, in Rio de Janeiro, and finally the paper as a paraglide, one of the citys most daring attraction;
- The color of her skin represents Brazils mixture of races. On this painting Ive chosen the mulatas;
- Her eyes represents Brazils most delicious green coconuts;
- Her nose, the beach umbrellas;
- Her eyebrows representing the symbol of Rios famous street carnival, The Apoteose, where every year, Samba teams (escolas de samba) compete for the best of Rio;
- Her hair, the sidewalk of Copacabana beach, designed by the famous Brazilian landscaper and architect, Burle Marx;
- Her necklace, with a golden touch, represents the slums of Rio, as it contrasts with the richness of its waterfront mansions and buildings;
- Her chest represents the Copacabana Bay;
- Her neck as Arco da Lapa(Aqueduct built in the 18th century to bring fresh water from a river to city); while also representing a guitars neck;
- Her shoulder as the guitar, representing our Popular Brazilian Music, while its strings are holding a gondola that takes locals and tourists to visit Rios Sugar Loaf mountain;
- One breast is the mountain where the statue of Christ The Redeemer is located, while the other breast is, The Sugar Loaf Mountain;
- Her hand, holding the sun/yellow amethyst, represents our tropical weather and the richness of our semi-precious stones. The light of the sun bathes the city in gold rays and warms the city treasures.
